Guide to Destroying Amulets / Magical Objects
Before starting Ruqyah, destroying any amulet (taweez) is essential.
If you find any suspicious object or amulet, take a container of water. Recite the verses related to sihr (sorcery) — Surah Al-A’raf (117–122), Surah Yunus (81–82), and Surah Taha (69). Then recite Surah Al-Falaq three times and Surah An-Nas three times, and blow into the water.
A compiled PDF of these verses is available here: https://ruqyahbd.org/ayat
Important Notes:
- Soaking and burning: Place the taweez, dolls, papers, or anything given by a magician into the prepared water. If written on paper, rub it in the water until erased. Tear into small pieces, then burn them completely (after drying or using kerosene). Avoid inhaling smoke while burning.
- Handling precautions: Do not touch with bare hands. Use gloves, or wrap your hand with plastic, or apply Ruqyah oil. Throughout the process, keep reciting Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas.
- Metallic amulets or rings: Scrape off the writing until erased. If not possible, burn it. If you cannot do this yourself, take it to a goldsmith.
- Knots, dolls, and pins: Untie every knot carefully. If dolls, statues, birds, or fish are found, check if pins are attached. Remove them and soak the pins in the water.
- Living creatures: If a live bird or animal is found, check its body for taweez or pins. Remove carefully, wash with Ruqyah water, and release it. Including casing, soak everything inside the water. Also pour enchanted oils or waters(given by magician) into it.
- Charms on walls, floors, or houses: Scrub off any writings or engravings, then sprinkle Ruqyah water. If hidden charms are placed in house corners, sprinkle the water for three consecutive days and pray for Allah to destroy them.
- Astrologer’s rings or stones: Soak them in Ruqyah water, then break the stone and discard it. Never keep such stones. Believing that stones have the power to benefit or harm, or that they can provide protection or wealth, is considered shirk (associating partners with Allah).
- Disposal: Pour away the Ruqyah water and burn items in a secluded place, not in household trash or among daily-use items.
- Suspicious places: If you suspect taweez are hidden in roads, houses, flowerpots, or other places, sprinkle water there for three days. If you dream of a location but cannot find the object, do the same.
- Repentance: If you ever used a taweez, destroy it as above and sincerely repent to Allah for using it.
